Just add music and spin
A 'tidal wave' of fusion is happening in world music, and much of it can be heard live this weekend

TORONTO -- Just how small a world is it? Based on some of the culturally peripatetic bands appearing at Toronto's first annual Small World Music Festival, it would seem to be minute. Take for example, the highly acclaimed Spanish band, Radio Tarifa, who deftly absorb flamenco, African, Arabic, Sephardic and Celtic influences, not to mention medieval church traditions. Or France's Lo'Jo, who, according to their press material, ''combine West African, Gypsy and Caribbean soulful sounds . . . blending dub with music from North Africa and France.''
