Why we need a public newspaper 'Our highly concentrated, privately owned media give us a mountain of trivial and biased news. Here's an alternative: a print-form CBC, says PATRICK WATSON'
I understand his reasoning. The proposal doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell in our world. The good news is that a 21st C equivalent is slowly arriving here and here.

They seem a little touchy these days, and I'm beginning to think that if we don't start falling in whenever they blow their bugle, we're going to end up with the place crawling with embedded CNN reporters. I joked that one gust almost blew me away. She asked if there was such a thing as a wind that could blow a person away. 'Tornadoes' I reminded her. She noted that we didn't have many of those around here. I assured her she was right. 'Toronto's a pretty safe place.' 'Yes it is. We're very lucky.'
