Canada's economy braces as the country confronts what appears to be fresh outbreak of the Sars virus and the first case of BSE in ten years. [BBC News | World | UK Edition]

What the article doesn't mention is that we're also bracing for the West Nile virus. We're half expecting a plague of locusts next.

Is "Mad Cow Disease" being blown out of proportion?
One cow, in a Northern part of Canada was rejected by a governement food inspector in January because it didn't look healthy. The animal was slaughtered, its internal organs and brain were removed and the meat, hide and bones were sent to be turned into chicken and pig feed. Five months later the analysis of its brain turned out that the eight year old animal had bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) or "Mad Cow Disease". Then yesterday, all hell broke loose.
