Fast train gets money boost < 1:36:51 PM>.

Now the federal government doles out big money to Via Rail for a fast train service, although whether the promise will carry over to Paul Martins regime remains to be seen. [montreal city weblog]

On again, off again, on again, . . .?

Duelling editorials, deconstructed < 1:33:43 PM>.

This weekend the Toronto Star has an editorial in favour of spending federal money to upgrade passenger rail service, and the Gazette has an editorial against it. The difference is that the Star editorial has cogent arguments: highway congestion, the expense of flying and the importance of maintaining train infrastructure for the future. The Gazette has no argument except that it doesn’t like the sight of money being spent, despite the bogus lede about the niceness of rail travel. Tant pis, you lose. [montreal city weblog]
