CBC News: CBC to lock out 5,500 employees: union < 12:11:22 AM>.

Union officials say the CBC will lock out about 5,500 employees at midnight on Sunday after contract talks broke down – a move that will force the broadcaster to scale back its TV, radio and online programming.

Arnold Amber, president of the CBC branch of the Canadian Media Guild, said negotiations broke down just before 10 p.m. EDT on Sunday.

The lockout is likely to have a significant impact on the broadcaster's programming, particularly its radio and online coverage.

The irony of the last point is that most of the issues on the table impact tv.
