'This nation is about to embark upon the first test of a revolutionary doctrine applied in an extraordinary way at an unfortunate time. A Look at U.S. Military Deaths in Iraq (AP)  < 9:45:20 PM>. .
AP - As of Saturday, June 4, 2005, at least 1,668 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. At least 1,279 died as a result of hostile action, according to the Defense Department. The figures include four military civilians.
