1C

Welcome to 1C Maki and Naoko. I think you will like this class because everyone is full of energy.

There was a misunderstanding with the homework, so we will check it again next week. There is more homework on page 55, but it isn't very difficult.

We were talking about food and asked if anyone was a picky eater and the only person was Masato. Do you know a lot of picky eaters?

Sae, a new student, joined us today and she was a little nervous, but I think she will be more relaxed next week. Makiko was gone today because she is traveling in Honshu.

We started Unit 7 which is about food, so we will all be hungry after class the next few weeks. Today we did a listening exercise about planning for an American-style picnic. It gave people a little trouble at first, but after several listenings they caught more of the details.

The homework for next week is the vocabulary section on page 55.

We began the new semester with talking about people's goals for the coming six months. Three people are planning to challenge the Eiken Step test next week and if they don't pass to want to try again next year. We also talked about more short term goals and study ideas for everyday.

We started the new unit which is about pollution; specifically in the ocean. The homework for next week is to find out about the recycling rules in Obihiro and the surrounding towns. This article about recycling in New York is a little disturbing, but seems to be the trend in other major cities in the US.
