Toshikatsu was with us this evening doing a make up class. He is a former classmate of Seiichiro's and Yoko's. In the pair work tonight I was impressed with how everyone used English only. There were some difficult words so I am sure it wasn't easy.

At the end of class tonight I was asked people about their plans for the weekend. When I got to Kaoru she started speaking about something, but suddenly said, "no plans." I realized she didn't know how to explain in English what she had planned. I will now be suspicious when someone says "No plans", they probably have something really exciting planned, but just can't explain it.

The homework for next week is to write about five Japanese customs and why people do them.

Only Hiroko today, but we had a good time talking about many different topics. She was really tired by the end of the class.

Hiroko joined us today and now we will have six people in this class. It will make pair work a lot easier now.

We focused on two poems by Roberta Hill Whiteman. The meanings were difficult for people, but after discussing them for a while people had a better understanding. The homework for next week is to write your own poem. If you want some help go to this this site.
