We continued talking about electronic gadgets today and at the end of class I asked people what they wanted for Christmas. New cars were the number one choice, but Mutsumi said she wanted a lot of money. I suggested she get a printing machine. She thought that was a good idea.
I gave this class an early Christmas present this week. No homework!(Mistake) I know I said there was no homework this week, but I had an idea on my way home. I don't know how to use the self-service gas station pumps! For homework next week please figure out how you would explain how to use them in English.

Mieko and Kimiko both did a good job finding information on the origins of Labor Thanksgiving Day. Mieko used the internet and Kimiko used a big Japanese dictionary.
Kumi and Nobuharu were both back and both have been doing some shopping. Kumi has a new car and Nobuharu bought a new notebook computer. He wants to mainly use it for surfing the internet. He will be able to check on this site more regularly now. This class was a little behind the afternoon class, but today we were able to catch up. The homework is the same for both classes.
I practiced the conversation with Keizo and his example was that he had an argument with his wife about housework. She complained he didn't help enough. Maybe a true story?

I was surprised to see so many people today. I thought that with all the snow yesterday people would be too tired to come today. Luckily, the roads were much better than they were yesterday!
Ikuko was back from her trip to Kyoto (no postcard). She said the autumn colors were beautiful. Yukari joined us from the afternoon class. Both Kimiyo and Kiyomi were absent today, so I didn't need to worry about mixing up their names.
We practiced talking about problems we might have with our children, spouses or parents. I think some people were using real examples.
The homework for next week is to write about 5 things in your future that you are worried about and why you are worried. If you can't think of five try to write as many as you can. Please add a comment 5:13:20 PM
