We talked about heroes and role models today and the difference between the two. Hopefully, you will have time to read the article because it will make the listening a little easier.

I put the word hero into the Google search engine and found this site. I haven't looked at it very closely, but It looks interesting. When I typed in role model I didn't get as many sites and many of them didn't have much to do with the topic. This one did. This line at the top of the page caught my eye
In a national survey of children ages 10 to 13, 43 percent said they had no role model.

We had a little trouble with the pair work today. Understanding the meaning of some of the questions was difficult, but in the end people did okay. I was surprised no one said they had seen a UFO! Usually in every class their is one person.

The homework for next week is to write sentences using the information that you got from your partners. We will compare the information at the beginning of class.

Sae was back today and said she had been busy organizing a lecture at her son's school. Now that it is over she will be able to come regularly again.

We talked about past tense verbs and if you would like to practice more this page has some exercises.

Next week for homework write about something surprising that has happened to you. Make sure to use at least 5 past tense verbs.

I was impressed with the information people found on the school violence and teenage crime. The two sources were the Ministry of Education or Justice. Of course, the counting methods were different and the types of incidents reported were also different. Here is a report on the situation in the US.

Two people brought an article about the police's new all woman security unit to protect female VIPs. I am looking around for a word to describe this group. They are bodyguards, but it doesn't help for what you would call the group. I will keep looking and see what I can find.

The homework for next week is Looking at Language on page 113.
