Tokachi Plaza

Evening

Two new students joined us tonight. Kenichi and Meiko (husband and wife) were both a little nervous, but everyone else knows the routine so it is much easier for them. We practiced using can and can't and people had a little trouble hearing the difference. We had to listen to the conversation on the CD several times, but in the end everyone could pick it out.

The homework for next week is to use the information you got from the people you interviewed and write sentences about things they can and can't do.

Morning

It seems like all the people with children in daycare or kindergarten were absent today. Many schools are having special Christmas events, so they may be helping to get ready. Hiromi and her family left on trip to Singapore today and I got a post card from Ryoko and she is in Sri Lanka. Sayuri mentioned she bought a travel book for Fiji. Who else is going on a trip this winter?

We started working on comparatives and superlatives today. In the listening exercise we did a quiz with questions about nature. There were a few answers that surprised people. The homework for next week is to write 5 questions like the ones in the book. Try to make them interesting. Also do page 28.
