Only person missing tonight was Saeko. For some reason I was having a terrible time with names tonight. For the first part of the class I was calling Momo "Tomo" and calling Sachiko "Etsuko". I guess the vacation was too long. Yasuko, our new student, was here and Matsumi (2A) and Satomi (2G) were doing make up classes.
We talked about jobs tonight and I forgot to mention in this class that now many jobs names of changed and dropped "man". For example fireman is now fire fighter and salesman is sales representative. This has been going on since the 1970s. You can see the change by looking at children's books.
This class has only one romantic person. Yoko is the only one who said that Laura shouldn't say good bye to Jordan and move to New York.
The homework is to do the vocabulary practice and check the spelling of the jobs you wrote down in the warm up exercise.

This had two different New Year's customs that they thought should be changed. One was about the New Year's dishes. Like the Tuesday Step 4 class they thought that it isn't important to make so many special foods for the new year. And like the other class they mentioned that there were many of the foods that they didn't really care for. The other suggestion was to do away with some of the decorations that are burned after the holiday is over. There have many some changes in this area because so many of the decorations have plastic on them were causing a lot of dangerous pollution. Now the shrines want people to separate the burnable from non-burnable before they throw them in the pile.
