Evening Plaza

People brought the advertising inserts like I asked and we practiced the dialogue using the prices in the ads. Mihoko brought some car advertisements, so we had some real big numbers to play with. By the end I think everyone had the hang of it.

Next week there is no homework and we will start Unit 9B

Morning Plaza

I checked The Grammar Book (Heinle & Heinle) for more information on tag questions and how to reply to them. What I told you in class is correct, but what should be stressed is that people seldom give a simple yes or no answer. Two examples in the book were:

A: ..... The can't get that big, can they, Wendy?
B: Well, when they stretch, yes.

Or
A: Science is your favorite subject, isn't it?
B: Has been since I was five.

The homework is to write 10 sentences using the information you got from your partner and the writing exercises on page 93.
