Hiroichi was the only student this evening, but he was absent last week, so we did the listening and talked about the commentator's opinion. He was pretty sure that living wills aren't accepted in Japan. Miho was going to check the internet and see what she could find, but she didn't come tonight. Miho if you read this please send me and e-mail or post a comment and let me know what you found out.

Mayu was surprised when she was the only person in class at first today. We had one visitor come and then later more people arrived. She wasn't too excited about having a private lesson.

Not everyone did the homework, but Masato and Yukari had some good ones. Masato wrote about clothing and my guess was totally wrong. I thought because he is an elementary school teacher he was writing about training wear. Yukari guessed correctly when she said jeans.

The homwework for next week is the vocabulary exercise on page 89. Remember that your answers are secret, so don't show anyone at the beginning of class.

We started Unit 12 today, which is the last one in the book. In the listening exercise they mentioned the island of St. Lucia. I went to this website and it looks like a wonderful place.

We talked a little bit about vacations and the homework for next week is to pick the things you like to do on vacation from the list on page 89. We will talk about them next week.

Miyako was absent today because she went on a trip to Honshu. I wonder if she will remember to send a postcard. With snow today I didn't think that Yukiko would make it from Ikeda. She said the roads weren't too bad, but the trouble was visibility because of the blowing snow.

Hiroko did her summary of the Who Moved My Cheese and she did a good job. Naoko has it now and after she finishes it we will get her impressions.

We started the unit on women in combat roles in the military and what it will mean about men's and women's roles in society. It is going to be a tough unit. Too bad we don't have more time.

The homework for next week is to try to find out the Ground Self-defense Force's rules on women in combat.
