Yoko was back tonight and the lesson was the perfect one for a nurse. Too bad Noriko wasn't here. We practiced a dialogue about being sick. We used words likebackache, stomachache and earache.

Morning Plaza
A lot of questions to answer today. First has to do with any and some. In the first book we used the grammar explanation on page 104 gives a clear explanation. I should have said in class that some is used in questions when you think the person is going to say yes. The sentence in the textbook today is a good example, but in saying that I don't think native speakers think about it that clearly. The next question was about using the with common nouns and proper nouns. This was is complicated and the grammar book I am looking at now has about an eight page explanation covering many different situations. I will summarize it next week in class and see if I can find a good worksheet to help you out.
The homework for next week is to write sentences using the answers your partner gave you to the questions you asked. Also do the language check. Please add a comment 3:04:31 PM
