5E

A few people were absent this evening. Miyuki has a cold and Fumiko had to work. We did get a new student. Fumio was a JOY student 10 years ago and has decided to start studying again.

We looked at the Declaration of Independence and watched the video about 4th of July celebrations in the US. Every city and town in America probably does something on that day, but most of the events are planned by non-governmental organizations. Seward, my hometown, has a big celebration every year with the main attraction being the Mountain Marathon Race.

I mentioned the termcivil religion and this article is very interesting. It is difficult so don't try to understand everything.

The homework for next week is to find the rights that are http://dictionary.reference.com/search?db=*&q=enumerated enumerated in the Japanese constitution and try to find how the Japanese constitution can be changed. Remember my can question at the end of class. Can Japan have a peaceful revolution?

For Step 4

I came across this article this morning and it has to do with a fad in America. Also when I was at the dentist today I came across the magazine Trendy which will give you a lot of information on what is in in Japan now.

Mai was back from her trip to Okinawa and it sounds like she had a good time. She said she was too busy to send a postcard. Other people had quite weekends. Akiko took it easy because of her back and Juniichi worked on a sculpture. Kazuni went to children's elementary school for Parents Day.

The homework for next week is to do the Language Check and send me a postcard about your holiday. You will notice I put some of the words that came up in class today in the posting. Let me know if you like this. If you do I will try to do it on a regular basis.

Vocabulary

pottery sculpture sculptor
