Evening Plaza

We continued with introductions today and talked about people's favorite things. Everyone has been here at least once except for one person. I hope we can get a regular group of people coming. Last semester we ended up with only 6 regulars by the end. You all seem to want to study hard, so I am sure that you will come every week.

The writing exercise was difficult, but people did a great job. There were some very interesting fashion show reviews.

We started talking about sweatshops and Atsuko said she saw something on this topic on NHK last Sunday. I wish I had known because I would have liked to have seen it.

The homework for next week is to find out about Japanese companies that overseas factories and what the working conditions are like. Are there any groups like the one mentioned in the listening exercise?

Morning Plaza

We went over names again today and people did a very good job remembering everyone. People were able to rattle them off very quickly. This was probably the best I have ever seen a class do.

We talked about occupations today and made a list of them. We also talked about where people might work. The homework for next week is to make a card for yourself with your name, hometown, nationality and occupation. You don't need to attach a picture. If you are having trouble thinking of occupations then this list might help.
