There was something interesting news today. Naoko reported about a large peony field near house. The flowers are full bloom now, but the farmer will be cutting them this weekend. He uses the roots to make a Chinese medicine. Yoshie's article was about the Obihiro Board of Education's plan to prohibit smoking in schools (staff and parents) starting in October. I am sure that will make non-smokers very happy.

Mitsuyuki brought some American chocolates this morning. They were really good and reminded me of home. Hizaji brought some delicious strawberries from his garden. I wish my strawberry patch produced such wonderful berries.
We talked about weather and clothing today. There was a little confusion about eh usage of wear, put on, and take off. I think by the end of class people understood. In talking about the different types of clothing words like stocking cap, which has different names in Canada (toque) and Australia (beanie), and clogs came up. Remember if you want to check on the names of different types of clothing, a good place to go is a catalog company like LL. Bean or department store like Nordstrom's.
The homework for next week is to write sentences about the picture we used at the end of class. Please add a comment 1:03:36 PM
