4A

Hiromi, our new student, joined us tonight and next week another new person will be coming. This class has grown from a group of 4 to almost ten, if Tomatsu comes back after his busy spell at work. A large class definetly gives you access to more opinions on the different topics we discuss.

The grammar homework took a little longer than I thought, but we were still able to discuss people's music preferences. The homework for next week is to do the Vocabulary in Detail section and next week we will start the listening section.

My Weekend

I have decided to do something new. When we have an odd number of people I am sometimes a partner with someone during the How was your weekend? warm up activity, but that only happens occasionally. To share a little more information with you I have decided to try to post about my weekend every Monday. I said I will try because Mondays can be a little hectic. Okay to get started.

This weekend I was busy on Saturday morning. I belong to a group that is working to improve Obihiro-no-Mori. In the older part of the forest the trees were planted to close together and have never been thinned, so one of the projects is to get the trees more evenly spaced to allow the forest floor to get more sunshine. Also in the first few years of the forest they didn't plant a very large variety of trees, so we will try to plant more different kinds of trees.

In the afternoon I worked at home weeding underneath my wild roses. I also trimmed them back a little because they were hanging over the sidewalk. That night my wife and I watched the movie John Q. My wife liked it, but I thought it was so-so.

On Sunday we were supposed to have our neighborhood association sports day, but it was canceled because of the rain. I had to help with distributing the prizes and food that we didn't use because I am the vice-chair of the association. In the afternoon, some people came for lunch and we had a nice relaxing time eating and talking.
