Evening Plaza

We went over the homework and there were a lot of questions about using any and some. I think by the end of the card game we played things were a little clearer.

At the end of the class the someone asked about fried eggs and then some said sunny side up . Then someone wanted to know the opposite. That was over easy. There was so much going on that not sure if everyone had a chance to write it down, so I decided to put it here.

I was surprised that everyone selected the letter option for the homework. I thought the role playing scenarios were more interesting.

I asked the other teachers and they couldn't think of term that was the opposite of spectator sport. My guess is that sports were traditionally something the most people did, and the idea that you only watched sports was something new.

We looked at the mascots for the World Cup and people knew most of them, but there was the one that looked like an orange. It was Spain. I mentioned that in the U.S. Native Americans objected to team names and mascots such as Braves, Redskins or Indians. This article is about this issue.

Update: Astuko came to the BYOB English Dinner and brought some fresh fish. Remember she said her husband was going fishing today. She thought she might have to shopping if he didn't catch anything. It really tasted good.

Morning Plaza

People did a good job with their homework. Some of the locations were easy others very difficult. I hope doing the exercise gave a better understanding of the downtown area. As I said in class the downtown shopping district has really changed since I first came to Obihiro 20 years ago. When I first came to this city the area was vibrant and exciting place. It is starting to make a come back with all the changes around the station, but it still has a ways to go.

The homework for next week is to learn about the different places in Tokachi Plaza and to check the activity board by the elevator when you come to class next week. We will use the information next week.
