I brought duct tape tonight so everyone could take a look at it. Here is an interesting site with a lot of useful information.
We moved on to another chapter and this time we will be focusing on different parts of the US. Tonight's reading was about the California Gold Rush. It mentioned John Sutter and the article I linked to gives his version of the finding of gold.

Today Satoko and Ritsuko were late which is very unusual. They are usually 10 minutes early. Mai had to leave early today so she has some special homework this week. Akiko had a bad cold last weekend. She had a high fever, runny nose, bad cough, sore throat and a headache! She is feeling a little better now.
It was interesting how people wanted to point to when describing their room to their partner. I had to keep reminding people to only tell, not show. In talking about people's rooms I asked if their rooms were clean or messy and some people said their rooms were messy. Mai's special homework for next week is to clean up her room and remember where you put things. For example, I put my CDs on my desk, or I put my books in the bookcase. For the rest of the class they need to do the Challenge exercise on page 42 in the bottom left hand corner. Kazumi also has the homework of sending us a postcard from Canada.
