I heard some sad news tonight. Masato skipped class to play pachiko! :) His wife said that he has a lot of stress now because there is no smoking at school. He needed to play pachiko to relax. He will do a make up class tomorrow.

We talked about people famous Japanese people. And the one example I gave was Kawabata Yasunori, but at first I thought it was Soseki that had won the Nobel Prize.

The homework for next week is to do the Ensemble. You can draw a picture, bring a photograph or cut something out of a magzine. You do need to think about you are going to explain it in English.

We continued practicing how to make apologies and offer excuses. In the reading we did as homework there was the proverb Honesty is the best policy.. This link gives a lot more. Everyone in the class agreed that this proverb isn't the best idea and that occasionally a white lie is a better thing to do.

Next week the homework is to do the Write About It on page 61. Remember to send an e-mail telling me on why you couldn't attend English Expo. Also do the Review on page 63.
