We did the reading on jazz by Langston Hughes from the book The First Book of Jazz. In the information about him accompanying the article in mentioned that he was a leader of th Harlem Renaissance movement. This link will give you more information. I also tried to remember some movies with jazz andhereis a list of movies that you might want to look at. The one type of jazz that I was trying to remember was ragtime jazz and the musician I was trying to remember was Scott Joplin.

Postcards from Ritsuko (1) and Mineko (2) came on Monday. Both of them wrote in English. When did the How was your weekend? a little differently today. I wanted to see if there was any miscommunication going on. Yes, there were several misunderstandings. Remember to listen carefully to what you partner is saying.

Keiko was outnumbered by observers and students doing a make up class. Tomoko couldn't make it tonight because she didn't have a baby sitter. With so many new faces it was a little difficult to do a regular lesson, but it went okay. Hopefully, Keiko and Takako, the observers will join this class. Having a few more people will make it interesting.
We talked about different activities happening in Tokachi and did the Ensemble activities. Looking at people's schedules for next week was surprising. You are very busy! I am glad that you can find time to study English.
