We didn't have any homework to check this week, so we spent a little more time talking about last weekend. We didn't use the textbook tonight because we just finished up the Unit 9 last week. We started by listening to a Christmas song and then I read the poem The Night Before Christmas. We also talked about people's favorite New Year's customs.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We talked about being superstitous and superstions after checking the solo activity. On the page of the exercise there were pictures of a four-leaf clover and a rabbits foot. This got us talking about good luck charms or talisman which brought up horseshoe. People wanted to know why a rabbit's foot(scroll down) and horseshoes are lucky. Read those two sites and you will find out why. We also talked about Japanese New Year's customs and the many good luck charms. Here is a good article in English about Japanese New Year's customs.

The homework is to do number 2 of the Solo exercise and read two articles in the magazines that I gave you.
