5E

Masami was back tonight and it wasn't the heavy snow last week that kept her away, but a very bad cold. She still has a slight sore throat.

We continued talking about the internet and did the reading about a cybercafe in Texas. The article was written in 1997, so it was quite a bit out-of-date. I introduced Wi-Fi and how it is changing internet usage around the world. There are some very good articles on the topic in the Washington Post. here.

Also at the end of class I mentioned Cluetrain Manifesto. It is a book and if you don't have time to read it, then look over the Manifesto.

Update: I forgot to mention another kind of internet tool called a Wiki. You can read more about them here.

We finished up Unit 10 and moved on to Unit 11 today. Some people had gone over the list of adjectives and looked up the Japanese meanings. That is okay, but make sure not to write them in the book. Keep them in a notebook or on a separate piece of paper. I also went through each adjective and tried to put a facial expression with each one. You should try to do that at home. I think it will help you to remember them.

The homework for next week is to add three more adjectives to the list also do the part on the bottom of page 98. Remember to also think about how you would explain Setsubun in English.
