Fortune magazine article "Generation Wrecked" and Scott's commentary Read This ! Generation Wrecked.
This recession hits far deeper than most people can even imagine and the gen-Xers are a big part of the problem. So many clowns in jobs they are far from qualified for while the gray hairs who have the talent and experience are out hunting for work for lllllloooonnnnnngggg periods of time. I encounter a whole car load of people who purport to be software engineers who haven't a clue. Technicians masquerading as programmers. Though the dot com boom was built on a lot of hype based on a sound technology revolution (the web), it certainly helped that the collection of people who were inflating the bubble didn't have a clue how to run the pump.
