Say No to Reviews. I've given this some off-and-on thought, but after reading this thread, I've decided that I'm not going to do performance reviews.
[The .NET Guy]
The last 3 reviews I got were on a post-it in a hallway! I think they the most productive reviews ever.

At dinner with Doc and Halley last night, Doc said something like this. "We'll always read the NY Times." I cringed. I said that people probably once said "We'll always take trains from LA to NY." Sometimes technology brings about big shifts. Maybe the whole idea of a "news organization" doesn't make sense. One thing's for sure, the Times is struggling, right now, with it's core mission. I don't think it's an accident that's happening in 2003. While some forms of communication survive basic sea-change transitions, as radio survived TV, some don't, like newsreels. Then Doc being Doc, said they actually still used newsreels when he was in school. I wonder what that was like, I'm only a few years younger, and they were gone by the time I came along. Someone probably said "We'll always get our news from MovieTone." Those statements are comfortable. Don't mistake comfort for truth. [Scripting News]
I am not sure print news has survived TV news, people buy newspapers because they like to read or they have time to read, not to get the news. Aggregators (from a news perspective) are the replacement for newspapers. "News agencies" need to find a way to charge for their content. They also have to provide something TV doesn't. So aggregators are a means to gather news when you are away from TV or point to more in depth or alternative news. The problem continues to be how do you make money doing this. If I, as a blogger, break a story it would be nice to make a buck too!
