With Google News Alerts you get filtered stories that can be posted to a cateogry weblog via a "mail-to-weblog feature."  This in turn generates an RSS feed that can be subscribed to.  Simple.  This is going to be an ongoing thing.  Google slowly rolls out services they think they can control and end-users find ways to route around them. RSS driven marketplaces. An RSS driven marketplace. An RSS driven marketplace

CareerBuilder, which is a joint venture by newspapers, outbid a $25 million per annum deal, struck at the peak of the dotcom bubble, between Monster and AOL, where the jobs service pays the portal for exclusivity. The reason:

"newspapers' jobs classified ad revenue, which dropped by half from $8.7 billion in 2000, to $4.3 billion in 2002".

Imagine if the entire classified ad business not only went online but decentralized and was based around RSS syndication and aggregation?

[David Galbraith]

My friend Mark Pincus would LOVE to see that happen.  His Tribe.net system features a Listings - Job board service which will be federating with other social networking systems and sharing revenues generated from those Listings - with the 'orignating' networks.

This is one example of how RSS driven marketplace might evolve.  There are others.
