Today at work I took a figurative punch to the groin and it is going to be a while before I straighten up again. The number one thing in my life is people. My family obviously comes first but in general, I cherish daily interactions with just about everyone. No matter what I think about someone on a personal level the way they interact with the rest of the world can always teach me something. This makes me a part time student of humanity and I wear that title proudly. Constantly observing and interacting has increased my basic desire to help those that truly need it and this is the crux of my bag pain. I have no idea why I sometimes pick people as projects and after today, I am reevaluating that entire program. I have tried to watch out for a person over the last year that had been dealt some extremely difficult cards. In my opinion, all that this person needed was a break or two to develop some self-confidence and turn life’s corner. Things were moving in the right direction but there were numerous setbacks. Some of these were so severe that this employee should have forfeited employment. Simply, I had done more on a personal level for this individual that anyone in the entire company and it blew up in my face. Without getting too specific, I was treated like an imbecile and stabbed in the back. This is one of those things that sticks with you and I am going to have a tough time putting this behind me. Thankfully, the kids are all in bed and Liza is at work because I am a tightly coiled bundle of sunshine and can barely stand my own presence.
