I know I said I probably wouldn't be back again until next week but I had to write about my encounter this morning. As I walked out of the circle K I passed a blind man that was being led by a woman into the store. This was a fairly normal pair except for the gun that the blind guy had strapped to a holster on his belt. I was frozen mid pop inhale trying to puzzle this scene out. I understand how the loss of your sight could make you feel vulnerable but this seems a little extreme. I am all about individual rights but this made me afraid for his neighbors on windy nights. I had an instant movie running through my head that involved trees blowing against his windows and after multiple verbal warnings he starts shooting. Or worse yet this guy fancies himself a vigilante and with the help of his trusty immigrant assistant they roam convenience stores all around Tucson looking, oops, listening for trouble. The day he actually hears some is going to make national news because I picture him as the only moving thing left in the store and its time to find a new assistant. I know I've got problems when something I see at twenty after five in the morning is still bothering me fifteen hours later.
