I came across a free portable arbitary precision integer and rational arithmentic library called IMath that looks useful. It is under a BSD style license and it looks like it might be useful for implementing bignum support in languages. It may be a useful alternative to GNU MP if the latters licensing is not compatible with your project. 11:09:27 AM
