I believe Pat Summit is the best basketball coach ever. By the time she retires, no coach, male or female will carry the legacy she's building at Tennessee. Six national championships, 13 final fours, rankings in the top ten forever...I read an opinion this week that it's just about a promise that if you attend Tennessee four years, you will play in a final four. I agree.
The Lady Vols face Connecticut Friday night in the semifinals. Connecticut is the best team in women's basketball this year, and the fully justified favorite to win the national championship. They beat Tennessee by double digits earlier this year in Knoxville, a very tough thing to do. They may very well do it again, but I'm not counting out Pat's Tennessee team just yet. Maybe we'll catch Connecticut on a bad night, and the Lady Vols will be on fire...
As for the men, I'm pulling for Kansas or Maryland, whoever wins their semifinal.
