The Promise of MMS Smart phone manufacturers need MMS to succeed. Vodafone needs success stories to emerge from its picture-messaging trials in Germany and Portugal. But if there's one thing the wireless providers discovered a few years ago, it's that customers want subsidies for their handsets. I don't know anyone who will pay EUR 500 for a new mobile phone.
