NYTIMES -- Thousands of people hop onto the Internet every day to post their photographs, hoping that total strangers will come, see, and comment. These photo blogs often have no text. Pictures can often tell a thousand different stories. Ask people to comment on the work of a Walker Evans subway shot and they will return with so many diverse observations. I first stumbled upon Fotolog in early 2000, opting then to keep my webfoto e-mail address as the front door to some Mapplethorpe photos. Most of the exhibits at Fotolog are passing efforts at chronicling daily lives through the lens. I like Joi Ito's regular photos of what he eats. I like looking at what people see at their side of the street. Fotolog is where I am starting my collection. David Gallagher runs Lightning Field, a must-see before going to NYC.
