Notebooks that survive drops from desks GARRINGREEN HOTSPOT -- My TransNote fell off a conference table today and if my track record holds true to form, I have two more drops before replacing the faithful notebook. Most of the hardest use seen by my laptops occur in classrooms or conference centres. The most common problem is someone trips on the power cord or a ham-handed student drops the notebook while passing it to a fellow student. I figure I could get four years' use out of notebook computers if I bought extra batteries for them so I could keep the power cord disconnected while elbow-to-elbow in meetings.
