Russia Rejects U.S. Draft on Iraq. Russia dealt a sharp blow to American efforts to gain U.N. backing for the use of force if weapons inspectors are thwarted by Baghdad. By The Associated Press. [New York Times: NYT HomePage]
I'm still appalled at the length of time being taken to come up with a resolution which will satisfy all parties. The arms inspectors could have been back in Iraq long ago if the US hadn't insisted on first having tougher terms in place. However, it's reassuring that the other permanent members of the Security Council (well, apart from Britain for whom, apparently, the US can do no wrong) are not prepared to simply bow to the will of George W Bush.
