When I say today, I mean it took pretty much the whole day. We arrived at the DMV in Concord at 9.30am and were finally finished at 2.00pm. Concord is about an hours drive from where we live, there's a DMV much nearer but because we're aliens we had to go to the main DMV to take our test. Most of the time at the DMV was spent waiting for an examiner to take us out on the road test. I guess we should be grateful that we were able to take the test at all since, at one point, they told us that we couldn't take the driving test unless we had an international driving license (we just had our UK licenses with us). Let me run that by you again - you can't take the driving test unless you already have a license. In my mind that kind of defeats the purpose of taking the test. Anyway after a bit of reasoning and much consultation behind the scenes they finally agreed that we could take the test and so off we toddled to wait in a new queue for the sole driving examiner to get round to us.One more 'thing to get done' ticked off the list.

Readership

I'm gonna have to be careful what I write here - I just discovered that my Dad is reading this stuff :-O. Cool new way to publish your blog. I might just move over to moveable type now that things are settling down a bit on the move front. On the other hand I might be too lazy, time will tell.

Finally found time to get the Naim set up last night. Took until 10.30pm before it was all connected up and properly positioned. First tracks on the CD player:

Jeff Buckley: Hallelujah

Stranglers: Golden Brown

Van Morrison: I Forgot That Love Existed

PJ Harvey: A Place Called Home, One Line, This Mess We're In

Dick Gaughan: Revolution, Companeros, Glenlogie

It sounds great in the new family room.

Spent the whole weekend unpacking boxes, assembling beds, desks, tables and putting books on shelves. The house is now looking lived in at last and I am a physical wreck (nothing new there of course).

And there's more, our container finally arrived along with three burly blokes to unload it. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend...

Curry. Since we arrived in the US I have been sorely deprived of my accustomed weekly curry fix. That was until last weekend when we went to the Bombay Club in Faneuil Hall Market Place aka Quincy Market. Bliss, hot spicy goodness in the form of a dhosa with potato and lentil stuff in the middle. Then last night whilst wandering around Burlington Mall we came across an Indian fast food place in the food court. More hot spicy goodness, this time in the form of a vindaloo and naan.I am a happy bunny.

Good news - our container has been released and is due to be delivered on Friday. That means it took just slighly longer to cross the Atlantic that it took to work its way through the reams of red tape in Boston harbour. It will be good to finally move into our new house.
