"If it's Wednesday, there must be Al Qaeda "terrorists" in Kashmir. It's Thursday? Did I say Kashmir? I meant Cashmere. An international cashmere laundering syndicate has been providing comfort to the enemy." -- Donald Rumsfeld.

Congratulations to 46 Senators for blocking the permanent repeal of the estate tax for the fantastically rich.

Ok, so I'll admit that my favorite Bush rumor is the story of getting a 15-year-old pregnant (while he was in the National Guard) and getting her an abortion -- at a time when abortion was illegal in Texas.
Of course, I have no idea if this happened. I'm just a citizen with access to Google.
It's very sad when a young woman gets pregnant without wanting to make a baby, of course. Young people -- all people -- make mistakes, and we hope they recover from the mistakes and learn a thing or two. I wouldn't hold a mistake against someone if he/she learned from it.
I like the story for the un-family values, and for the cover-up.
It's pretty juicy for a soon-to-be-awol National Guard officer to get an underaged girl pregnant, force her to have an abortion, arrange for the abortion in a time and place where abortion is illegal, and then cover the whole thing up effectively for decades. But to want to re-criminalize abortion -- that's even better.

"Don't blame me, I voted with the majority."
"One Person, One Vote*
*May not apply in all states"
"It's not a war, it's a con job."
"G W Bush: drug free since 1974"
[This last quip is almost certainly false. 1974 was the date created by media whores interpreting Bush spinners' obfuscations in the most generous possible way. As far as I know, the exact quotations could be interpreted as meaning a drug-free period started a few years prior to 1989.]

Detaining Americans [washingtonpost.com]: "Similarly, the government refused to let Mr. Hamdi meet with a federal public defender interested in representing him. And when that lawyer sought to file a case on his behalf anyway, the government then contended in a Kafkaesque twist that, having had no prior relationship with Mr. Hamdi, the lawyer could not do so."
