NASA REJECTS CLAIMS IT PLANS MIND READING CAPABILITY
"NASA does not have the capability to read minds, nor are we suggesting that would be done," said Robert Pearce, Director, NASA's Strategy and Analysis Division in the Office of Aerospace Technology in Washington. "Our scientists were asked to think outside the box with regards to ideas that could aid the nation in the war on terrorism and that's what they are doing. We have not approved any research in this area and because of the sensitivity of such research, we will seek independent review before we do.
I've posted the original news report on this (see below) and also the rather fantastic Boeing anti-gravity story on my tech page. It's fun to follow these science fiction like developments in the news, but we can see the usual pattern that an initially fantastic announcement will usually be followed by a correction from the actual parties involved, bringing the story back to earth. I'm still going to post them when I see them - they're exciting, they stimulate the imagination, and however these announcements may turn out to be less amazing in the end, they still show the great progress being made in science (hopefully to balance the great regression we see in our national and international political affairs.)
