Information Loophole in the Great Firewall of China

Much of the technology and expertise to build the Great Firewall is happily provided by corporations from the supposed champion of democracy in the World (The USA.)
Somewhat anecdotal, but I recall from an Asian History class that the Great Wall of China did not keep the "barbarians" from invading because the barbarians usually managed to get someone on the inside to let them in...
