Do you remember the Mr. Fusion from the end of Back To The Future? Nobody has invented one of those yet, but the next best thing may be a battery powered by leftover food invented by British researchers. According to the linked story, it currently runs on refined sugar, but the goal is to run it off "raw materials"

 | Fester is the first ground based robot (R/C, not autonomous) to be deployed in actual combat. "Fester" is the nickname for a specific unit being tested in actual combat situations in Afghanistan (other units in this family of robots classed as "PackBots" include other Adams family nicknames like "Morticia", "Tuesday", and "Pugsley" ).
