Musicians, meet the music bazaar at least half way
| |
... with StudioForRecording.org, a free recording studio for everybody. Not a bad deal, no? [ Source: Doc Searls Weblog; 4/19/02; 9:08:49 AM.] |
Very cool use of the available low cost recording equipment, combined with use of HUB (Historically Underused Business) space to make it affordable to get music to people who otherwise might not have any exposure.
Thought: Get music artists to back this, at $60K a pop for a basic studio, you could have them popping up all over.

Gates touts vision of PC as hub. Microsoft's chairman takes the stage at WinHEC, announcing support for wireless networking technology Bluetooth and demonstrating devices for the networked home. [CNET News.com: Personal Technology]
One of the cooler apps that is described in the conference is a USB telephone, allowing you to have your computer make the calls for you. While Windows has had built in dialers before, to my knowledge, the combination with a decent speakerphone or other device has not been there up to now. Pretty sweet!

Fun with numbers - From Jon Robb
WSJ. AOL to avoid selling broadband. Why? Other cable companies don't want to partner with AOL. >>>The most sensitive issue of all may be the cable sector's desire to retain its customers. Cable executives worry that if consumers can jump between high-speed America Online on either cable or telephone companies' DSL high-speed services, they will have no loyalty to cable -- much as satellite TV's ability to offer cable programming has enabled satellite operators to skim off roughly 17 million households in the past few years.<<<
This is a killer graphic:
