Getting down in the trenches is one fo the best ways to learn about the issues that your workers are facing. I was worknig for a furniture company years ago, and one of the execs (and the namesake of the company) rode with me briefly in a van on our way to a client. He noted the lack of AC, no cupholders, and a few other things that we had (or didn't) in the van.

The next month we had all new vans with AC in them, as well as cupholders, and a few other amenities. I know that he has long since retired, but I gained a lot of respect for him when that happened.
