Hot-Rod Your CD-RW Drive [Slashdot]

This is akin to the release by TV manufacturers of the same TV, in a differently badged case, that has all the same hardware in it, but different remotes. This allows them to build one TV, and sell three to five different ones (at increasing prices) where the remote is all that lets you access all the features. In this case it's the firmware that has the limitations. Right now I can't see (it's slashdotted) the page for my Sony Cd burner, but kicking it up to 48x would be nice, if possible.
