What happened to XNS?. XNS is/was a Digital Identity system to combine all addresses and identities of individuals, organizations, and devices into a single point of control (or failure, however you look at it). It was formally created in 2000 under the XNS Public Trust Organization, or "XNSORG". It showed great promise, but has ever since been beset by legal issues which no-one seems intent on solving any time soon. [kuro5hin.org]

Talli suggested I look into XOTcl. It's a much more object
oriented TCL, with plenty of OO buzzwords, that works with AOLServer.
It's an academic initiative that looks to be bolting on OO to TCL in a comprehensive, Ruby-esque way. It's hard for me to evaluate it without having a specific use for it's advanced features in mind, but one thing that comes to mind is training: throwing things like dynamic object mixins and filters into a language has a learning curve downside to it. The general tenor of the overview hints that it might deliver bits of aspect oriented programming, which I've read good things about. I hope they can come up with some good coding examples to demonstrate it.
