Organizing Data Across a Heterogeneous Net? [Slashdot: News for nerds, stuff that matters]
I'm trying to solve this problem right now. Unison/ssh to my e-smith, which samba mounts whatever workstation files I need, seems to be working okay. The weak link is Outlook on my home desktop... I don't have a unified history of what I've sent.

Programming Contest Winners Announced. Google has announced the winner of their Google Programming Contest. Congratulations to Daniel Egnor for his project on Geographic Search winning. Take a look at some of the other winners too. [Google Weblog]

The idea of a geographic search just be parsing out address info is a pretty neat hack.
