Happy 4th of July
I forgot to mention that I went to the Damian Conway talk on Extreme Perl at
the Boston Perl Mongers meeting. It wasn't about Extreme Programming, but
rather about his entry in a recent obfuscated perl contest. I didn't make
it through the talk. The code he present was such a horrible horrid mess
mess that I started feeling ill. It reminded me too much of an actual
system I had recently worked on, where one of the variable names went
something like 'oh_na_no', goto's and globals abounded.
<shudder> Everyone was alternately cheering Damian on and
groaning, and I kept thinking "Man should I not use this language for
large systems."

New E-Smith Release
e-smith 5.5 is out. The commercial offering has hub-and-spoke VPN configuration (which doesn't allow branches to see other branches networks), secure instant messaging, groupware w/calendaring, and more.
The free version I think just has the security patches for apache and ssh.
