Cloudmark, Week 4
1439 Emails checked
153 Spam caught
Not one spam in 4 weeks. Not one false positive.
I feel like laughing whenever I see someone complain about spam
I saw a post from Carl Sassenrath on the REBOL mailing list about how he had
been so barraged be spam at his public email address that he decided to
change to a new address. He posited that the p2p messaging capabilities of
his REBOL/Link software were the future, because the present email system was
broken beyond repair. I pointed him to Cloudmark, and explained the
benefits of collaborative filtering, along with my testimonial. He was
appreciative, and said he looked forward to it being ported to a different
client, because he unsurprisingly does not use Outlook.
Sigh. The need for a Cloudmark/Outlook to POP connector is quite obvious.
Software that would read your Outlook inbox, figure out what messages got
filtered to your SPAM folder, and reproduce these as delete commands in an
arbitrary POP account. I think that this would be a days work (and I don't
have time right now, darn!).
Spam's death march

LOL This is a great write-up of spam's (all-too-slow) death-march to oblivion by Boing-Boing's Cory Doctorow.
