BlogX at Work
I started using blogx for my at-work, behind-the-firewall weblog. I had originally planned on using Radio/Radio Community Server but the sticking point there is the need for a static IP address (at work you need a manager's approval to get one of those). Plus, I can mess around with the source code.
There were only a few problems so far:
- I'm running Windows Server 2003/VS 7.10 on my server box. My RSS feed button was giving me "Request Format not Supported" errors whenever I clicked on it (strangely enough, all the category rss hyperlinks worked just fine...). It turns out that VS 7.10 disables the HTTP Get protocol by default and I had to add a section in my web.config file to turn it on. Scott Hanselman's Weblog has a post with the details.
- I'm not sure how to do formatting in posts. (I didn't try using the Windows Forms client - maybe I have to use that...).
Aside from that, it was super-simple for me to get going with (and I am definitely not a web-savvy guy). Kudos to ChrisAn!
