Renewing Radio and Thoughts of Writing Every Day
Another year of Radio Userland has passed and it was time to renew. I don't think that I've really used my Radio website that much in the previous year, but hope springs eternal for the future...
At times like this I'm reminded of Brian Eno's A Year. Eno set himself the goal of writing in his diary every day for a year. It's a fascinating book and, as one who is not naturally inclined to write every day, impressive to me. If I were attempting to do this, today would be day one. And if I were to continue to do this it wouldn't be nearly as fascinating as Eno's attempt.
Another book that comes to mind at times like these is The Artist's Way, specifically for the practice of morning pages. Morning pages involve sitting down and writing three handwritten pages every morning. It doesn't matter what you write, only that you write three pages every day. I actually did this a few years ago when I was going through some "interesting" times and I believe that the practice helped me. I don't think that I could do it now - I can't imagine the thought of actually writing (as opposed to typing, as I'm doing here) three pages a day. And typing is explicitly discouraged.
So anyway...
